About Our School
La Casita Preschool was founded in 2011 by Theresa Jensen and Veronica Escareño who both met while working at the Montessori School of Linda Mar. Theresa and Veronica established La Casita with the goal of creating a close-knit school that would nurture the whole child. At La Casita we work to strike a balance between developing academic skills while also giving students time to play and explore. We encourage each child’s natural interests and curiosities through a wide range of hands on activities, and the freedom to choose the activities they gravitate to naturally.
When students walk into La Casita we want them to feel like they have entered their second home. We treat students in a warm and nurturing manner while also maintaining clear boundaries and routines so they know what to expect. We work to create a school culture where students and teachers demonstrate caring, kindness, and respect towards each other. We also empower students through gaining independence- to learn how to do things for themselves like working a zipper to other matters like expressing feelings or negotiating how to share toys with a friend.

Small Class Size- Our school has between 9-12 students each year, which enables us to give each of our kids the one-on-one attention they need to thrive.
Outdoor Learning & Play- We have a beautiful backyard as well as a park across the street.
Dance & Art- We instill a love for creativity by weaving in the visual and performing arts and students have the option to take dance class here through the Spindrift School of Performing Arts.
Hands on Learning- Our curriculum is project based and plays to our students natural curiosity for the world around them.
